Two major events marked the turn of the Century for Nayland:
At mid-day on 31st December the official opening of the revitalised village hall.
The celebration of the Millennium with a Barn Dance, torchlight procession, bonfire and fireworks on Court Knoll.

The Community Council kindly funded a children’s party to celebrate the year 2000. It was open to all children aged 4-9 years who lived in Nayland with Wissington or attended Nayland CP School. There was two hours of activities including a children’s disco followed by a party tea. All children were presented with a Millennium mug to mark the special occasion. The mugs were also available for residents to purchase.

The Conservation Society held an exhibition of historic material of old Nayland and Wiston during Open Gardens 2000 weekend, co-ordinated by Wendy Sparrow, Andora Carver, Mike Almond for Nayland and Rosemary Knox and Pru Hardy for Wiston.

The Horticultural Society joined with St James’ Church to provide a special Harvest Festival incorporating special floral displays in September 2000. Nearly 30 societies and businesses contributed filling the church with original arrangements.
